The exclusive D-ECOPOWER system on select models, improves productivity and saves fuel.
An electronically controlled pump, closed-center main control valve and nine sensors electronically detect and control the precise amount of hydraulic oil required to perform a task. The hydraulic system output requirements are optimized with engine horsepower.
The resulting efficiency reduces fuel consumption and increases productivity substantially. Improved feedback through the controls results in an outstanding level of operator comfort and much smoother machine management.
SPC is implemented through two systems that work together to improve efficiency while maintaining productivity and is controlled by the ECU. SPC is activated by default and can be disengaged.
Variable speed control enhances fuel efficiency by reducing engine speed in the low load range to an appropriate level. It does this by detecting both the actual engine load and the operator’s activity during heavy-load operations.
Smart pump torque control reduces smoke and increases fuel efficiency by reducing unnecessary engine load through optimized control of pump torque in accordance with the engine torque.
Mechatronics Design works in conjunction with the engine control unit (ECU); monitoring and optimizing machine performance to increase productivity and reduce fuel consumption.
The system enables power and work operating modes, electronic control of fuel consumption, auto idle, hydraulic oil flow regulation and control, and machine diagnostics. It also improves control, allowing you to precisely place material and easily level the ground.

A crawler excavator is a type of heavy construction equipment designed with a set of tracks instead of wheels, which enables it to move on rough and uneven terrain. The excavator tracks also provide excellent stability and traction when working in soft soil conditions. Crawler excavator uses include trench digging, excavating and lifting.
Choosing a crawler excavator involves considering a variety of factors. These factors include project requirements (digging depth, reach and lifting capacity), excavator size, attachments, operating environment and ground conditions.
Crawler excavator prices and rental costs vary based on the local market, machine class and options. DEVELON suggests that you identify your required equipment specs and consider the available space at the job site. This will help you narrow down the options and choose an excavator that provides the performance and capabilities for you to work efficiently.
The maximum digging depth of a crawler excavator varies based on the model and size of the excavator. The digging depth depends on factors like boom length, arm length and whether there is a bucket or other attachment. DEVELON crawler excavators offer dig depths from approximately 20 to 30 feet, depending on the machine configuration. You can typically find these equipment specifications on the manufacturer's website, on the excavator model pages.
The maximum weight a crawler excavator can lift, also known as lifting capacity, varies based on the model and size of the excavator. Add-ons, such as an excavator counterweight, can increase the machine’s lifting capacity. DEVELON recommends reviewing the excavator lifting capacity chart in the Operation & Maintenance Manual before lifting any objects.
Maintenance requirements for a crawler excavator include the following: inspecting daily, checking fluids, replacing filters, greasing lubrication points, maintaining proper track tension, cleaning the cooling system and checking the electrical and hydraulic systems. An excavator maintenance checklist is a good method for tracking machine upkeep. Make excavator repairs immediately to avoid machine downtime. Use MY DEVELON fleet management to stay on top of machine maintenance.
DEVELON crawler excavators feature hydraulic systems designed for peak performance and efficiency across various applications. These systems respond to the operator’s demand by controlling the auxiliary hydraulic pump’s flow output based on load sensing. As a result, the correct amount of flow is delivered to each function, ensuring efficient completion of the job.
A wide range of attachments is available for crawler excavators. Among the most common attachments are buckets for everyday excavating tasks. A hydraulic quick coupler is a popular option for changing attachments. Thumbs are regularly paired with buckets to grab, lift and discard materials.
Safety features for crawler excavators include a standard rearview camera and optional equipment such as a side view camera, LED lights and around view monitor (AVM) camera system. Operating a crawler excavator safely requires proper training, adhering to safety guidelines and using the machine responsibly. Basic safety measures include conducting a thorough pre-operation inspection to identify any issues before starting work. Always wearing a seat belt. Positioning the excavator on stable and level ground. Clearing the work area of any debris and hazards that could interfere with the excavator’s movement. And finally, keeping a safe distance from the edge of the trenches.
