DEVELON designs log loaders for durability in the most challenging work environments. The upper structure features a reinforced mainframe, integral catwalks and heavy-duty side doors. The cab has a 4 ft. riser and for transporting, hydraulic tilt. Guarding on the upper structure protects key components and access points, including hydraulic and cooling system access doors, the cab, hydraulic cylinders and undercarriage. DEVELON also offers an optional side-entry forestry cab that is certified for Oregon OSHA and British Columbia WCB standards.
DEVELON log loaders offer extended maintenance intervals and easy access to service points, which increases machine uptime and operator productivity. Maintenance features include:
-Centralized grease points
-Wide side-access doors
-Boom pivot bushings with 250-hour greasing intervals
-Large-capacity engine-air precleaner that removes more than 99 percent of airborne particles and extends filter cartridge service life
DEVELON log loaders also feature a high and wide undercarriage, which makes traversing over stumps easier. Tracks feature heavy-duty links with double grouser shoes and full-length track guiding guards. DEVELON also incorporates special clean-out brackets with the top rollers to reduce the risk of materials becoming lodged inside.
With DEVELON log loaders and road builders, full coverage for 36 months or 5,000 hours (whichever comes first) is standard. Plus, count on parts and service support from your local authorized DEVELON dealer. Learn more here.
When you're comfortable, you’re productive. That’s why DEVELON log loaders feature an all-weather steel cab with a reclining suspension seat that adjusts to your height and weight. The seat also features adjustable head and arm rests. To reduce fatigue caused by engine noise, DEVELON also incorporated sound-suppression technology into the cab.
Like the seat, the joystick controls adjust to match your preference. The controls can move up and down for more ergonomic operation, which reduces operator fatigue. Operators can quickly change from ISO to BHL control patterns using the pattern change valve.
A multi-function color LCD display shows a variety of machine information, including operation history, flow rate control and filter/oil information. This display also receives video from the rear-facing camera or optional, side-mounted camera. You can also reduce operating costs by monitoring your DEVELON heavy equipment and maintenance schedules with DEVELON telematics.

A log loader is a type of forestry heavy machinery designed for handling and moving logs. These machines move logs at timber harvesting sites, load logs onto trucks and stack logs at sawmills. Most log loaders feature a hydraulic boom and grapple to reach, grab and lift. Road builder models are a type of log loader and are used as land-clearing equipment.
DEVELON offers three log loaders and road builder iterations for the forestry industry that vary in horsepower and loading height. Contact your local DEVELON dealer for help choosing a log loader for your situation.
Consider the following specifications when choosing a log loader for forestry: horsepower, reach at ground level and loading height. Plus, consider how much the logging equipment can lift. Make sure the log loader’s lifting capacity matches the weight of the logs, keeping in mind the heaviest loads you expect to handle.
The average price of purchasing or renting a log loader can vary based on the local market, machine class and options. First, determine your necessary log loader specs. You can typically find equipment specifications on the model page of the manufacturer's website. This will help you narrow down your options. Select a machine that offers the performance and operational capabilities to be efficient.
The weight a log loader can lift depends on the size of the machine. The log loader’s maximum reach also depends on the size of the machine. Log loader owners should refer to the lift charts in the Operation & Maintenance Manual to understand the machine’s lifting abilities and maximum reach. Contact your local DEVELON dealer for help selecting a log loader for your needs.
Safety is a top priority in logging and forestry operations. Owners are responsible for log loader operator training for all employees. DEVELON log loaders are built with a raised cab for enhanced visibility. A standard rearview camera provides extra visibility on the machine’s LCD screen. An optional side view camera is available for further visibility of the side of the log loader. Find more information in safety manuals produced by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers.
One of the most common attachments is a log loader grapple. Logging and forestry operators combine the log grapple with a live heel to grab, lift and carry logs. Other attachments for log loaders include saws, debarkers, augers, mulching heads, brush rakes and buckets.
Log loader maintenance starts with regular inspections to ensure that the machine is in good working order. Maintenance tasks include checking and filling fluids, changing filters, cleaning the cooling system and greasing lubrication points. Plus maintaining the undercarriage and examining attachments. Keep a maintenance log that documents inspections and log loader repairs.
